We have been long considering the possibility of including a health clinic, and a research station was, of course, part of the original plan that had been largely set aside (though not forgotten) until now.
Today we determined that we will partition the currently enormous school room into two large units, and further divide one of the units into a library, examination room, and laboratory, according to the plan in the image below. The laboratory and exam room will be equipped with running water and shelf space; the library will double as a nap room and will have cots for researchers and volunteers to sleep at night.
We are currently awaiting to visit the secretary of education to attempt to get a teacher as soon as possible. With the purchase of the Kombi, we now have means of transporting kids (and adults), and have means of transporting the teacher and secretary to Porto Jofre.
