I write from inside the school, where it is dry but for a few small drips which will be solved by mortaring in place the 'acabamento' tiles.  The downside to being dry is, of course, that the mosquitoes swarm inside the school where we have yet to finish all the doors and mosquito netting.

The plan for the next few days is as follows:  Today we'll finish the roofing tiles, prep-work for the 'acabamento'.  Tomorrow we will finish the in-wall piping and build five doors, along with installing mosquito netting in the roof monitor.  Thursday will hopefully be dedicated to cementing over the bathroom dirt floors.  Then we'll do the electrical wiring on Friday, and finish with the final touches on acabamento and mortaring the walls ('reboco') over the weekend and into next week.  I will make sure everything works and put tiles and toilets in the bathrooms shortly thereafter, then head to Porto Jofre to schedule meetings with the 'ribeirinhos' (river people) and 'pantaneiros' whose kids will be attending school in May.

Only after everything is done will I return to the city to post and arrange a meeting with the Secretary of Education.
